The institution was founded in 1954. It hosts academic activities of various kinds, always related to Humanities, with preference for the Ancient World. Its main objective is to promote the dissemination of Humanities and Classical studies through courses, along with many other activities, such as conferences, seminars, book presentations and film forums. It is also responsible for a large number of publications.
It has several spaces for meetings and conferences.
